Expert Instruction Rooted in Compassion, Precision, and Joy

Many students come to me after months or even decades of lessons — still unsure how to hold the violin comfortably, produce a beautiful tone, or how to go about making real progress towards playing the way they dream of. They’re passionate, but haven’t been taught the correct tools or had the appropriate help to diagnose and solve problems needed in order to thrive.

In my studio, I love to change this with my nearly 30 years of pedagogical experience and persistent quest to keep improving as a teacher and player.

I combine the beloved Suzuki repertoire for my young or beginning students or the vast canon of etudes, sonatas, and concerti for my advanced professionals and philosophy with biomechanically sound technique — rooted in the Rolland method and body mapping for musicians. This allows students to play with freedom, avoid injury, and access their full musical potential. I love when my students gain clarity, confidence, connection to their instrument, and bodies in ways that are often transformative.

A Studio for Learners (of All Ages)

I don’t expect that everyone will have a career in music and I don’t only take “talented” or “easy to teach” students as learning an instrument is incredibly potent way to build connections in the brain and teaches so many important lessons that apply to just about any other life endeavor. I can help anyone who is willing to put in consistent work. This is a place for curious, kind, and committed students — those who are open to learning, willing to follow directions, and respectful of the learning process.

Parents play a vital role, especially in the early stages. You don’t need to be a musician yourself — but your involvement, encouragement, and support at home are essential.

What I Ask of Every Family

  • Daily Practice — even 15 focused minutes makes a difference. Without this, it is impossible make real progress as each week, we refine and tighten and layer on top of the previous work, which must make it into long term memory in order to do so
  • Respect — for the teacher, the process, and each other
  • Direction-Following — because practicing the wrong thing wastes valuable time
  • Humility — a willingness to learn, listen, and trust expert guidance
  • Parental Support — consistent presence and encouragement at home

If you’re looking for an entertainment approach to lessons, this isn’t the right fit. But if you want to build real skill, develop a deep connection to your instrument, and work with a teacher who takes your progress seriously — I would love to hear from you.
